Located 270 km north-east of Novosibirsk, Tomsk was founded in 1604, originally as an Ostrog (wooden fortress). The city is famous for its beautiful wooden houses located in the old city. It is here that Michael Strogoff burned his eyes in the famous novel by Jules Verne.
Built in 1628 on the banks of the Yenisei River, the city of Krasnoyarsk is a charming and typical old Siberian city. To the south of the city is located the Stolby Nature Reserve, hidden in the heart of the Taiga and famous for its gigantic wild rocks.
Located 650 km west of Novosibirsk and founded in 1716, Omsk was an important historical place in the beginning of the XX century, when it was the capital of the anti-Bolshevik Russian State and held the imperial gold reserves. Nowadays, Omsk is the second biggest Russian city beyond the Urals thanks to the Trans-Siberian railway.
